It supports evidence-based practice and fosters critical discussion of contemporary challenges affecting patient care, health promotion, healthcare systems, and population health.
Modern Nursing and Public Health particularly welcomes original research, review articles, clinical case studies, methodological contributions, and interdisciplinary studies that advance the understanding of health-related phenomena and contribute to improving patient outcomes and healthcare quality. The Journal encourages quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research employing rigorous and appropriate study designs, as well as scholarly contributions addressing methodological innovation, professional practice, and the organization of healthcare services.
All submissions undergo editorial screening and, when suitable, external double-anonymous peer review. The Journal operates under a Diamond Open Access model, ensuring immediate and unrestricted access to published scientific content without publication fees for authors or access charges for readers. Authors retain copyright in their work, and new articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. The Journal publishes manuscripts in English and Polish, supporting international scholarly communication while maintaining its contribution to the advancement of nursing and healthcare research in Poland.
The editorial principles of Modern Nursing and Public Health include:
- Rapid initial screening for suitability, scientific relevance, and compliance with editorial requirements.
- Rigorous external peer review, conducted through an independent double-anonymous evaluation process.
- Transparent editorial procedures, ensuring ethical oversight, fair manuscript assessment, and independent decision-making.
- Diamond Open Access publishing, without article processing charges, submission fees, or reader subscriptions.

Modern Nursing and Public Health is supported by an international scientific and editorial network representing diverse areas of nursing, midwifery, medicine, and health sciences. Its interdisciplinary orientation provides a forum for exchanging research findings, clinical experiences, and innovative approaches to healthcare. The Journal's readership includes nurses, midwives, clinicians, educators, researchers, healthcare managers, policymakers, and professionals engaged in nursing and public health.
External Rigorous Peer Review
Each submission to Modern Nursing and Public Health undergoes rigorous editorial quality control and external peer-review evaluation before a final editorial decision is made. The initial in-house assessment considers the manuscript's relevance to the Journal's aims and scope, scientific originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, competing interests, financial disclosures, data availability, and adherence to the Journal's submission and reporting requirements.
Manuscripts considered suitable for further evaluation are assigned to at least two external, independent reviewers following a double-anonymous peer-review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Reviewers are selected according to their scientific expertise, independence, and ability to provide objective, constructive, and confidential assessments.
Reviewers may recommend acceptance without revision, acceptance following minor revisions, reconsideration following major revisions and further review, or rejection. Where revisions are required, authors are invited to submit a revised manuscript accompanied by a detailed response addressing the reviewers' and editors' comments.
To ensure the originality and integrity of the scientific record, all submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism and similarity screening using Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate). Similarity reports are evaluated by the Editorial Office in their appropriate scientific and contextual setting. A similarity score alone does not constitute evidence of plagiarism or determine the editorial outcome.
The Editors oversee the peer-review process and ensure that editorial decisions are based on scientific quality, originality, ethical compliance, and relevance to the Journal. The Editor-in-Chief retains full responsibility for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of each manuscript.

- The article contains plagiarism or other serious violations of publication integrity.
- The research was conducted or reported in violation of essential ethical requirements.
- Other serious circumstances undermine the reliability or legitimacy of the published scientific record.
A retraction is communicated through a formal retraction notice identifying the affected article and explaining the reasons for the decision.
