The Scholarship of Research (SOR) aims to advance the scholarship of health and care research by promoting work that:
- Examines and improves how research is conceptualised, designed, conducted, analysed, interpreted, reported, and evaluated
- Advances methodological, statistical, qualitative, computational, psychometric, and analytical approaches to research
- Develops and critically examines theories, concepts, frameworks, models, research tools, software, and methodological innovations
- Explores the ethical, epistemological, and philosophical foundations of scientific inquiry and the production of knowledge
- Promotes transparency, reproducibility, replicability, research integrity, open science, and responsible research practice
- Investigates the implications of artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies for methodology, interpretation, scientific responsibility, and human oversight
- Provides a forum for rigorous scientific dialogue, critical perspectives, methodological debate, replication, informative null findings, and transferable lessons from the research process
- Encourages interdisciplinary exchange between health sciences, statistics, social sciences, engineering, computer science, data science, ethics, philosophy, and other fields involved in producing and evaluating research knowledge
SOR is not a general health sciences journal. Conventional clinical, observational, qualitative, or intervention studies are considered when their primary contribution addresses a methodological, theoretical, conceptual, analytical, ethical, epistemological, or research-practice question. The Journal's central aim is to create a scholarly space for both doing research and thinking critically about research.
