Abstract

This editorial introduces the AIIAO 2026 Special Issue by framing oncology nursing at the intersection of innovation, evidence, and proximity. It argues that contemporary oncology care is shaped by a compressed tension between scientific progress and constrained health-system capacity. Drawing on the congress theme, the editorial positions nursing proximity, evidence translation, and governed innovation as strategic responses to professional uncertainty and disengagement. The Special Issue is presented as a record of a scientific community answering complexity through research, peer review, and cumulative disciplinary work.
