Call for Papers | Mobility, Health, and Care: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Migration, Education, and Professional Practice

Interdisciplinary Journal of Nursing and Health (IJNH) invites researchers, clinicians, educators, and policymakers to submit manuscripts for a Special Issue focused on health and care in contexts of human and professional mobility.

Human and professional mobility—including migration and refugee experiences, international studentship, and the transnational movement of healthcare professionals—has become a structural feature of contemporary societies. Across these diverse forms of mobility, individuals and systems face shared challenges related to access to care, equity, communication, cultural responsiveness, ethical tensions, professional identity, and continuity of care.

This Special Issue adopts an interdisciplinary perspective to examine how mobility shapes health experiences, care practices, learning processes, and organizational and policy responses across institutional, cultural, and national contexts. By framing mobility as a shared condition rather than as separate population categories, the issue seeks to foster integrated and comparative understandings of health and care across borders.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Health, well-being, and access to care for migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers
  • Culturally responsive care practices in migration and multicultural settings
  • Ethical challenges and decision-making in health and care for migrant populations
  • Management, leadership, and organizational models in health and care services for migrant populations
  • Learning and professional training of international students
  • Professional identity and international professional mobility

Comparative and cross-national contributions are particularly encouraged.

Article types: Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Case Reports and Case Series, Research Protocols, Commentaries, Theoretical Frameworks and Conceptual Models, and Scholarly Perspectives.

All submissions will undergo double-anonymized peer review and must comply with the Interdisciplinary Journal of Nursing and Health Guidelines for Authors.

Submission deadline: 30 September 2026
