Abstract

The exponential growth of scientific knowledge has transformed research from a discovery-driven endeavor into an increasingly productivity-oriented system. While the unprecedented availability of information creates new opportunities for innovation, it also generates information overload, bibliometric pressure, and a growing fear of missing out among researchers. This commentary reflects on the risks of prioritizing scientific output over intellectual depth and argues for the need to preserve reflection, curiosity, and originality as essential drivers of meaningful scientific progress.
