Abstract
Background. Heart failure is one of the most serious health challenges in modern medicine, placing a significant burden on both patients and healthcare systems. Despite advances in pharmacotherapy and medical technologies, hospitalization and mortality rates remain high. One of the key contributors to this problem is insufficient therapeutic adherence and a low level of self-care. Objectives. The aim of the study is to analyze adherence and self-care in patients with heart failure, identify factors influencing compliance with therapeutic recommendations, and present strategies that support improved cooperation between patients and the therapeutic team. Conclusions. Factors affecting adherence are multidimensional and include social, economic, systemic, disease-related, treatment-related, and patient-related determinants. The most effective interventions include health education, individualized treatment plans, active patient involvement in the therapeutic process, social support, and the use of digital tools such as telehealth, electronic reminders, and national patient portals. Improving adherence and self-care may reduce rehospitalization rates, enhance patients’ quality of life, and decrease healthcare system costs.References
