Abstract
Background. Epidermal hyperkeratinization in ichthyosis covers the entire body surface. There are several varieties with phenotypic differences between them. The presence of the collodion membrane is the most often the initial period of chronic ichthyosis disease that appears later. Objectives. The aim of the study is to present the specificity of care for a newborn with ichthyosis. Material and methods. An individual case based on the nursing process was used. Full term male neonate with congenital autosomal recessive ichthyosis. The nursing diagnoses involves: newborn’s discomfort related to dry skin and flaky epithelium on the surface of the whole body, the mother's deficit in the care of the newborn's skin, a high risk of infection in the newborn, the child's anxiety caused by the lack of parental proximity and a disturbed process of building a bond between the mother and the child, the child's discomfort related to regurgitations after feeding, and the mother's insufficient knowledge in this regard, as well as anxiety about the child's health. All problems have been resolved. Conclusions. A long-lasting therapeutic effect is possible thanks to regular skin care and multi-specialist care.References
