Digital Preservation

International Journal of Wound Research (IJWR) is committed to the long-term preservation, integrity, and continued accessibility of its published content.

Digital preservation is distinct from ordinary website hosting and routine online access. Its purpose is to ensure that published content remains recoverable and accessible if the journal website becomes temporarily or permanently unavailable.

PKP Preservation Network

IJWR preserves its published content through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a distributed digital-preservation service developed by the Public Knowledge Project for journals using Open Journal Systems.

The PKP Preservation Network uses distributed LOCKSS-based preservation technology to maintain secure copies of journal content across multiple preservation nodes.

Content deposited through PKP PN may include published issues, articles, supplementary files, and associated metadata supported by the preservation service.

The Editorial Office and technical administrators periodically monitor the preservation status of published content and investigate unsuccessful or incomplete deposits where necessary.

Metadata and Persistent Identifiers

Published articles receive persistent Digital Object Identifiers registered through Crossref.

IJWR maintains bibliographic metadata for its published content, including article titles, authorship, abstracts, publication dates, volume and issue information, licensing information, and DOI records.

DOI registration and metadata dissemination support persistent identification and scholarly discovery but do not replace the journal’s digital-preservation arrangements.

Where article metadata are corrected or updated, the journal aims to update the corresponding bibliographic records while preserving the transparency and integrity of the published record.

Author Self-Archiving

In addition to the journal’s digital-preservation arrangements, authors are encouraged to deposit their work in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal academic webpages, and other appropriate non-exclusive scholarly platforms.

No embargo period is imposed by IJWR.

Repository deposit supports dissemination and access but does not replace the journal’s formal preservation of the published scholarly record.

Permitted Manuscript Versions

Authors may deposit:

  • the submitted manuscript before peer review;
  • the accepted manuscript following peer review;
  • the Just Accepted Manuscript, where published;
  • the final published Version of Record.

Each deposited version should be clearly identified by its publication status.

When depositing the Version of Record, authors should include the complete citation, DOI, a link to the article webpage, and the applicable Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence.

Where a submitted, accepted, or Just Accepted version is deposited, authors are encouraged to update the repository record with the citation and direct link to the Version of Record after final publication.

Preservation of the Scholarly Record

Corrections, retractions, Expressions of Concern, editorial notices, supplementary files, and updated article versions form part of the scholarly record and should remain permanently accessible and transparently linked to the affected publication.

Retracted articles normally remain available with a clear retraction notice or watermark. Published content is removed only in exceptional circumstances involving legal obligations, serious privacy concerns, or a substantial risk of harm.

Changes affecting the published record are not made silently. Where an article file or metadata record is corrected or replaced, the nature and date of the change are disclosed where appropriate.

Continuity of Access

If publication of IJWR is transferred, suspended, or discontinued, the Publisher will seek to preserve access to previously published content through the journal platform, the designated preservation network, repositories, or another suitable preservation arrangement.

Discontinuation of new publication does not remove authors’ or readers’ rights under the applicable Creative Commons licence.
