Our Mission

The mission of the International Journal of Wound Research (IJWR) is to advance knowledge and support evidence-informed practice in wound prevention, assessment, treatment, management, and healing.

The journal seeks to strengthen the connection between scientific research and clinical practice by publishing rigorous, transparent, ethically conducted, and clinically relevant contributions that may improve patient outcomes, quality of life, professional practice, and healthcare delivery.

Research and Clinical Practice

IJWR promotes research concerning acute and chronic wounds, tissue viability, skin integrity, wound-healing mechanisms, therapeutic interventions, medical technologies, healthcare organization, education, and implementation of evidence in practice.

The journal welcomes quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, methodological, clinical, translational, educational, and organizational research, together with reviews and other scholarly contributions appropriate to its Aim and Scope.

Research involving dressings, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, software, artificial intelligence, or other commercial technologies must address a relevant scientific or clinical question and disclose funding, material support, and potential conflicts of interest transparently.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Effective wound care requires collaboration across professional and disciplinary boundaries. IJWR provides an international platform for clinicians, researchers, educators, healthcare managers, policymakers, scientific societies, and patient representatives involved in wound care and skin integrity.

The journal encourages the exchange of knowledge among nursing, medicine, surgery, dermatology, podiatry, rehabilitation, biomedical sciences, public health, healthcare management, engineering, and other relevant disciplines.

Editorial Principles

IJWR is committed to editorial independence, research integrity, transparent reporting, ethical publication practices, and appropriate management of conflicts of interest.

Research articles and other scholarly submissions designated as peer reviewed undergo independent external evaluation. Other content is assessed according to the editorial process applicable to its article type.

Through immediate open access, the journal supports the international dissemination, discussion, and responsible application of wound care research.
