Abstract

Hydrocephalus is a pathological condition that results in the widening of intracranial fluid spaces, especially the ventricular system of the brain. Disorders of the cerebrospinal fluid circulation lead to increased intracranial pressure and its consequences. Ventricular drainage systems for cerebrospinal fluid are used in surgical treatment of hydrocephalus. The purpose of the study was to present the nursing process of implantation of Rickham’s reservoir based on International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®).
