Abstract

Background. Today, many women decide to family childbirth. A joint birth act is a very important moment in life, affects partner relationships and sexual intercourse. Changes that occur in a woman during pregnancy and childbirth have an influence on later intimate relationships and satisfaction with sex. Objectives. The aim of the research was to assess the sexual satisfaction of women after a family childbirth with the partner. Material and methods. The study was attended by 150 women after the end of puerperium, above 18 years of age. The research method was a diagnostic survey. The survey consisted of three parts. The first part was the authorial questionnaire, which was of a metric nature. Next, the Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire by Agnieszka Nomejko and Grażyna Dolińska-Zygmunt was used. Respondents filled the questionnaire twice. For the first time in the retrospective version in relation to the feelings accompanying them before delivery, then after the end of puerperium. Results. Satisfaction with sexual intercourse after childbirth doesn’t correlate with the woman’s age and parity. The level of sexual satisfaction of women after childbirth doesn’t correlate with who made the decision about family childbirth. The level of sexual satisfaction before childbirth correlates with the level of sexual satisfaction after family childbirth. Conclusions. The level of sexual satisfaction of women in the group examined after the birth of a family isn’t conditioned by the age and the parity. The increase in the level of sexual satisfaction after a family birth is unrelated to who made the decision on the birth of a family. In the researched group the level of sexual satisfaction before childbirth affects the feeling of sexual satisfaction after a family birth.
