Abstract

Wound appearance (the break of anatomical tissue continuity or damage due to mechanical agent) requires the use of a dressing that will promote proper healing processes. A wide range of specialized dressings, with different physicochemical properties that are available on the market can pose a serious problem in their proper selection, depending on the type of wound. The awareness of dressings types currently available on the market will allow for a more free and effective selection, thereby contributing to faster and more efficient recovery. The aim of the paper is to present and discuss the types of specialized dressings available on the Polish market and demonstrate their applicability depending on the type of wounds including the wounds difficult to heal.
