Abstract
The concept of frailty, sometimes also termed „weakness“, „fragility“, or „reserve decrease“, gains popularity due to the ongoing dynamic changes in population age structure. As many as 65% of elderly individuals are at risk of adverse medical events related to frailty. Therefore, future management strategies should focus on identifying this syndrome in elderly and chronically ill patients. The Tilburg Frailty Indicator (TFI) is the only standardized research instrument adapted for use in Polish populations that allows a global assessment of frailty. The TFI has the essential psychometric properties and is a simple instrument that can be used in everyday clinical practice.References
